Concept & Selection

Concept

The nominated teacher is required to submit a concept describing the course and providing general information. A PDF form with topics and questions has been created to support teachers in this task. The following aspects are to be elaborated: description of the course and the proof of performance, competence orientation, reference to the teaching award focus, student centering, teaching and learning philosophy & general didactic concept as well as media-didactic preparation & special use of teaching and learning technologies. Explanations and supporting questions can be found in the template.

Selection Criteria

Before the new academic year starts, usually at the end of September, a jury, invited by the Vice Rector for Studies and Teaching, will meet to select two winning courses based on the concept and the course evaluation. The submission documents are assessed based on the concept content regarding to the following criteria:

(1) relation to the teaching award focus
(2) meaningful and complete course description in UNIGRAZonline
(3) student feedback that is consistent with the teaching concept
(4) didactic implementation
(5) didactically motivated use of teaching/learning technologies
(6) appropriateness (to achieve the intended learning goals)
