Awards 2020/21

Focus: Competence-oriented teaching and examine

Whether it is an examination-immanent course or a lecture, certificates of achievement are a central component of university teaching. How can teaching, learning and testing be coordinated in the best possible way? How can student learning processes be promoted in the best possible way through competence-oriented and student-centred examinations? These questions were the focus of the teaching awards in the academic year 2020/21, which are about competence-oriented testing, transparent examination and meaningful feedback.

The teaching awards thus put the spotlight on those teaching events in which:

  • Learning objectives, teaching methods and examinations are coordinated in the best possible way;
  • performance assessments are designed in such a way that students have the opportunity to demonstrate their acquired competence(s) in a way that is appropriate to the situation;
  • teachers strive to make the process, methods and assessment criteria as transparent as possible to students;
  • students learn through the performance assessment in which areas they can further develop their competences (especially in the case of formative performance assessments);
  • teachers use alternative forms of assessment.
